About Us
The Techno Ferrets, team 4212, is a FIRST® Robotics Competition team located in Galesburg, Illinois. Started in 2012, we have grown from a low-budget team to a strong competitive team using what we have available.
Part of the reason we have been so successful is our collaboration with 4-H. In addition to being FRC team 4212 the Techno Ferrets, we are also a 4-H SPIN club. 4-H has provided us with a lot of administrative help. In fact, our team members come from 4 different high schools around the Galesburg area, making our team diverse and well rounded. Something else our team puts a lot of effort into is supporting and advertising robotics and STEM education in our community. Since we live in such a rural community, many of the students in our area have never had access to robotics or STEM programs, or have even been introduced to robotics and technology. As “robotics pioneers” in Knox county, we strive to get as many students as possible excited about robots. To do this, we hold demos at high schools, middles schools, and elementary schools; walk in homecoming parades; hold open houses and robot reveals open to the public, and mentor the local FLL teams. With the Techno Ferrets’ help, robotics programs are majorly on the rise in Knox county. Since we’ve grown into such a strong team, we’ve attracted many talented students and professionals from our area. With their help, we’ve created highly functioning robots that have competed fiercely against some of the world’s greatest teams. Watch out world, the Techno Ferrets are on the move! |
